Only 100 Days After the Fire, a Virginia Hardware Store Reopens

By   /

Randy’s Do It Best Hardware celebrated the grand reopening of their new store in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, on Saturday, Nov. 26.

An overnight fire on February 26 completely destroyed the previous Randy’s Hardware location, which had been a mainstay of the Mt. Jackson community for 70 years. Following confirmation that everyone was safe, the leadership team immediately began making plans to rebuild, devoting their time and effort to preserving the store’s legacy.

Loyal customers informed the Randy’s Hardware leadership team that a nearby grocery store would be permanently closing. The team transformed the former grocery store into a larger hardware store than the one they lost, which opened its doors for business just 100 days after the fire with expanded product lines and categories to better serve customers.

The grand reopening event was held to thank the Mt. Jackson community for their ongoing support of the store. The Holtzman Oil Corporation provided free food, and the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Central Virginia provided free drinks. There were also door prizes, giveaways, product discounts, and more. Products from local vendors were available for purchase, including Alexander Brothers’ leather goods and cutting boards, Tom Rodriguez’s custom birdhouses, and Hotts Apiary.

Randy’s Do It Best Hardware is a locally-owned family business that sells tools, lumber, builders hardware, electrical, plumbing, and heating supplies, lawn and garden products, paint and sundries, and more to contractors and DIYers. They also provide repairs on a wide range of equipment and household items.
