The Wood Industry Resource Collaborative Launches Campaign to Attract Talent
The Wood Industry Resource Collaborative introduced a new campaign to increase awareness about careers in the industry.
It is called “You Wood” and it aims to communicate wood industry career options and to entice talented individuals to choose a career in the industry.
“This campaign is the culmination of over three years of communication, research, and hard work,” says WMMA CEO Fred Stringfellow.
“Companies in the industry are still struggling to find skilled workers as they grow to meet demand. We are excited to launch this campaign as a way to increase awareness; and to expand the pool of candidates for our future workforce.”
The campaign features:
- A website with career details
- Profiles of high-demand positions
- Career quizzes
- Links to educational resources like schools and scholarships
- Industry information
- Events calendar
The site will have continuous updates, and new features will be added.
These include additional career pathway details, industry pro spotlights, and custom video content.
Industry trade associations led by AWFS, Woodworking Machinery Industry Association, and Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America, in partnership with Nashville Tennessee-based Industrial Strength Marketing developed the program.
The program was developed for two audiences: high school students, and individuals in their mid-20s to late 30s and military veterans who are looking for a career change.
A study of this market revealed that over 70% of all respondents are unaware of wood industry career options.
However, the research also showed that 23% of respondents would consider a wood industry career.
