Rocky Mount will Receive a $7.5 Million Expansion from Woodgrain
According to a statement made on Tuesday by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, the building supplies firm Woodgrain, Inc. The business will spend $7.5 million to increase the size of its Rocky Mount door-hanging plant.
Governor Cooper praised Rocky Mount as Woodgrain’s first choice for expansion. This choice reflects the company’s satisfaction with our vibrant neighborhoods, robust manufacturing sector, and top-notch labor force.
Woodgrain, Inc., a vertically integrated manufacturer of moulding, millwork, windows, doors, door jambs, and door frames, has been family-owned and run since 1954. The business has seven facilities in North Carolina, including a sawmill, and its headquarters are in Idaho. It also operates in Chile and the United States. The current business of Woodgrain will move to a 225,000 square foot facility as a result of this development.
Todd Dame, president of Woodgrain’s Distribution Division, said, “We are delighted to grow our Rocky Mount operation while also adding more jobs that will have a beneficial influence on this excellent town. “By enhancing our vertical integration through the expansion of our production capabilities, we are better able to fulfill our commitment to producing high-quality millwork products. We congratulate all of our highly skilled employees for contributing to the growth of Woodgrain and American manufacturing as we continue to invest in North Carolina.
“Woodgrain knows the value that North Carolina brings to its operations, from sourcing materials to supplying quality doors and framing products,” said N.C. Machelle Baker Sanders is the secretary of commerce. North Carolina is dedicated to supplying a varied, well-trained workforce to support international corporations with their expansion objectives. The state has the largest manufacturing workforce in the Southeast.
The combined average annual compensation for the new roles, which include those in production, warehouse, delivery, sales, and administration, is $44,464, which is higher than Nash County’s general average annual wage of $44,377. The new positions might result in a payroll impact of more than $1.8 million per year.
The One North Carolina Fund will provide a $100,000 performance-based grant to support Woodgrain’s growth in North Carolina. Local governments receive financial support from the One NC Fund to help them attract business investment and create jobs. Companies must satisfy criteria for capital investment and job creation in order to get payment; no money is given to them up front. All One NC funds require local governments to provide a matching contribution, and each award is subject to that condition being satisfied.
N.C. expressed his excitement about the additional investment and new jobs coming to the area. Lisa Barnes is a senator. Nash County residents are prepared to help Woodgrain as they expand their presence there.
These kinds of announcements are the result of many dedicated individuals, according to N.C. James D. Gailliard is a representative. “We value the hard work of the local, state, and economic development experts who helped Woodgrain decide to expand in Rocky Mount.”
Key participants in the project included the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Edgecombe Community College, the Carolina Gateway Partnership, and the City of Rocky Mount, in addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.
