Kodiak Building Partners Acquires Goodrich Lumber

By   /

Goodrich Lumber, a lumber and building materials distribution company based in Kingston, Massachusetts, has been acquired by Kodiak Building Partners.

In 1906, Goodrich Lumber was established in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Since its inception over a century ago, Goodrich Lumber has expanded its services and facility in Kingston, Massachusetts, with a 45,000-square-foot drive-through lumber yard, an 8,500-square-foot store and showroom, and a 1,700-square-foot millwork shop.

Goodrich Lumber was founded and long operated by the Goodrich family before changing hands to new ownership in 1993. Kevin Medeiros, president of Goodrich Lumber, began working with Goodrich in 1996 and later purchased the company in 2012. Goodrich Lumber continues to focus on building Goodrich’s local legacy by being the premier resource for high-quality products, cutting-edge building science, and top-tier education and technical support for area contractors.

“Goodrich has been in business since 1906 and is a valued partner in the community,” said Kevin Medeiros, president of Goodrich Lumber. It is very important to us to keep Goodrich managed and operated locally. Kodiak appreciates and values our concern for our customers, employees, and the Goodrich legacy—both companies are like-minded and understand the role we play in our community. This was a deciding factor in the purchase.”

Medeiros and his team run Goodrich Lumber with the goal of serving niche customers in their community, usually within a 20-mile radius.

“Goodrich Lumber has a legacy of local expertise and industry innovation with market-leading products and vendors and a strong focus on the customer,” said Pat Flood, executive vice president of operations at Kodiak Building Partners. As we looked ahead, we chose Goodrich specifically because of our long-held respect for the organization and our complete confidence that Goodrich’s addition to the Kodiak Team will allow both Goodrich and Kodiak to be successful well into the future.”

Goodrich Lumber’s existing suppliers, products, management, manufacturing footprint, employees, and distribution network will be retained by Kodiak. Goodrich is expected to benefit from sharing best practices in distribution, manufacturing, and innovation, as well as scale and efficiency of operations, as a subsidiary of Kodiak Building Partners.

“Kodiak’s strength and success come from dedicated local leaders and their teams who are focused on helping customers succeed in the building materials industry,” said Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak Building Partner. The acquisition of Goodrich fits perfectly with our culture and expands our New England footprint, much like a good rug ties a room together.”
