Simpson Strong-Tie Joins Annual Building Safety Month

By   /

This month, Simpson Strong-Tie joins other industry associations and organizations in recognizing the 42nd annual Building Safety Month, which is sponsored by the International Code Council.

Simpson says that as climate disasters become more severe and frequent, it encourages the industry and the general public to learn more about how we can all participate in and support recovery efforts in the aftermath of a disaster.

Building Safety Month is an annual public awareness campaign held in May to help individuals, families, and businesses understand the efforts required to build safe and sustainable structures.

The campaign theme for this year is “Safety for All: Building Codes in Action.” Topics covered each week include:

  • Planning for a Safe and Sustainable Tomorrow
  • Exploring Careers in Building Safety
  • Understanding the Four Phases of Emergency Management
  • Creating a Safe and Abundant Water Supply.

Simpson Strong-Tie is a cosponsor of the Week 3 session, “Understanding the Four Phases of Emergency Management.”

The goal of this campaign is to emphasize the importance of adhering to modern, regularly-updated building codes, as well as what it takes for families and businesses to construct safe and sustainable structures.

“Our company’s mission to assist communities in designing and building safer, stronger structures is consistent with the goals and objectives of Building Safety Month.”

“We are honored to collaborate with ICC on this annual campaign to educate the industry and the public about the importance of designing and building safer, stronger homes and buildings,” said CEO Karen Colonias.

Simpson Strong-Tie has several resources to support Building Safety Month initiatives, including educational materials on high-wind and earthquake-resistant design and construction, as well as building and retrofitting code-compliant wood decks.
